Actually, I'm *recording* a breadboard layout in gschem, and that kind
of symbol is much more compact than the default one, when you include
refdes and value.  Breadboard first, use the schematic as a "note
pad".  This is the project:

The 2nd-rightmost photo is the current breadboard layout; I've got the
chip working with Renesas's programmer (white rectangle lower right)
but I next want to get it working with my Linux-based hardware (usb,
lower middle).  It took a while to get it working, so I didn't want to
lose all that work once I start rewiring it for my pod.
