GTC: Minor tweaks

I'm not sure my mail of yesterday wound up on the mailing list. If not, I've 
made significant changes to the CVS, the new scene graph infrastructure seems to 
work.

I am also about to upload two minor tweaks. The first is that you can now use 
configure --with-dmalloc to compile with the dmalloc heap sanity library to help 
you track down pointer problems. The second is a minor fix in the code I 
uploaded over the weekend; I was writing to a pointer I was freeing on the 
previous line (duh).
