GTC: SWIG vs CORBA

I've been reading about CORBA. Seems to me like we might be able to use CORBA 
instead of SWIG, though I expect there would be some overhead because most ORBs 
will probably insist on doing some network streaming and stuff, even if the 
purpose is to link it all together statically.

If any of you wants a good overview of CORBA, you can download the MICO 
documentation off http://www.mico.org/. MICO isn't the ORB that I plan to use 
but the documentation in MICO is pretty good and a lot of it will carry over to 
other ORBs. I'm planning to use ORBit but the documentation is really crappy. 
(Or perhaps I haven't found the ORBit documentation yet.)
