I haven't checked the link (can't get online just now) but if this is the
same thing as the esound that comes with the E window manager, I think it
may be a bad idea. Not in principal, but it is firmly attached to the
window manager, which means you are limiting users to a single
(controversial, I like it myself) wm. One of the gnome projects is to
create a replacement for esound, but that's in the future and it remains
to be seen how integral that will be to gnome (let's hope it's like gtk or
Qt is to gnome - detachable). For now OSS seems the best way to me.
I heard of a system called NAS (Network Audio System?), but I don't know
much about it.
