I tested the patch with both the provided test (https-client) and with
my application. It works. Now, HTTPS connections reconnect as HTTP ones do.

Thanks a lot for your efforts. Hope, the patch finds its way towards
upstream ;-) and I don't need a manually patched libevent in the future.
