It *did* point to the list, but it seems that the .forward was
accidentally deleted. I reinstalled it. Attached are the mails sent to
linuxgam@sunsite.auc.dk up to now (the mbox file)

BTW - Can you add the free SDKs from the Tools page to the Free Projects
list, Paul?

Hi, I just saw you guys on linuxgames.com. I want to help out! I'm an
avid gamer, a learning programmer(pascal perl and c - to various degrees),
and a linux zealot. Q3test and CivCTP have excited me to no end. I've
recently been messing around with some of the games libs, Crystal
Space, SDL, ClanLib, etc... I also have a tutorials website at
http://www.muppetlabs.com/~ben/tutorials.html. I'm also interested in
writing tutorials as I learn stuff. Let me know if I fit the bill.

Hi. I would like to request you add Golgotha Forever
to your list of game projects. Also, we have a pretty
decent API currently called I4 (Interface4) which you
may want to add to the API section. However, it's not
a completed API yet. (Nor is the game ;)

Thanks.

Hi,

  What is ALE Clone?

A clone of the realtime fantasy strategy game W*rCr*ft II.
ALE Clone runs under UNIX and X.

Since ALE Clone doesn't provide graphics, sounds and documentation,
you need the original game so ALE Clone can extract the necessary
   files.
(With over 1 million sold copies this shouldn't be a big problem)

This means:
ALE Clone is a game engine of WarCraft II for linux.

We search urgent artists for graphics and sounds, to get a 100%
free project.

Hi!
My name is Kornel Kiss, webmaster of Linux3D, http://www.linux3d.net, a new
site
dedicated to 3D gaming on the Linux platform. You can read our mission section
( http://www.linux3d.net/sources/mission/ ) to learn more about L3D, and also
our Supporters section ( http://www.linux3d.net/sources/supporters/ ). If you
visit the site under Linux, please set your fixed and variable font to Lucida
if you dont have a TT server with the ARial font.

Now, the reason I am writing is because we are hosting Gizmo3D,
http://www.linux3d.net/gizmo3d/ , a high performance 3D Scene Graph and effect
visualisation toolkit for Linux, WIN32 and IRIX. If you could add it to your
links section. Please visit the Gizmo3D site, as you will learn much more
about
it by reading than me trying to explain it to you. ( I am the webmaster of the
site and I can do html, a little cgi but I am not a programmer :) ).

Also, this guy needs testers for his engine and feedbacks also, so if you
could
help him out by announcing it. Thank you very much for your attention,
best regards,

How new is this thing?
How many persons are there on the list? You should make also other member
services than the mailing list. Also it would be a good idea to do a section
where people could ask for ideas for their games and people post their new
game ideas. This would work on some kind of message board.

one problem, I can't program in C++ very well. Are there any other
programing languages for both windows and Linux? There is chipmunk basic

Parsec - A space shooter (not GPLed, its Freeware)

Hello everyone

I sent some links with minor comments to Paul. I have to admit that I'm
a little lost here. What should our line be in selecting the news and
articles?

Some obvious answers could be
- Announcements for development tool releases or updates, including
compilers, graphics, sound etc.
- All articles or interviews concerning those
- All new guides, books and memos for game designing

But then:
- What about game releases? (Quake II for Linux at this week, the very
first release of Ludus Design called Quadra, ...)
- What about the general discussions about open source or other
code-publishing-related stuff

The net is full of magazines telling about game releases almost
immediately after the announcements have arrived. Although it would be
nice to catch up what's new for Linux, I don't believe telling about
those should be our job.

The general discussion about code publishing is (to my opinion) a very
important part of game designing, especially when the coders are coding
in an open source or freeware environment (Linux). So I think I should
follow the discussions around this subject and then collect the
highlights for others to see.

What do you think? I'm finally getting my search engine done, so I'm
basically only missing the keywords :)

Could Majik 3D be added to "free projects" listing? Majik 3D short title
could be "an online role-playing world", description (if needed):

"Majik is a project to create a captivating role-playing environment set
in a medieval fantasy world with the help of modern 3D-technology. Majik
differs from other similar games by having a single ever-developing
server instead of multiple clones from one static world. Thus the residents
of Majik can truly affect the history and legends of this world as it
constantly grows in both size and detail."

and the link for the web pages is: http://majik.netti.fi

The project is under construction but there is still even now developmental
daily snapshots of the client available for download, testing and making
new ports. Those can be found from http://majik.netti.fi/download.html. We
are constantly looking for new talented and dedicated developers, world and
graphic designers.
