Jeez, just a few months ago everyone was amazed that we had such a nice
450Mhz box box to do both DB and web serving.  Now you're worried that it
won't be enough for just the DB even though we haven't even gone live yet?

Maybe my vision is skewed from my experiance here at work.  Here at work
we're serving almost 300 hits/sec across 6 mid to high end Sun servers (4x
4CPU E450's and 2x 8CPU E5000's) and our two Oracle servers don't even
break a sweat.  We have in total 8 300Mhz cpu's dedicated for Oracle, but
2 cpu's would be more than enough.  And our site is 99.9% dynamic, with
200+ DB's anywhere from a few meg to 6 GB.

I can't even begin to phantom where our sole dual processor front end will
be able to push our 450Mhz RAID1 box 'to the limits'.  If we seriously get
to that point, getting a second CPU or more RAM from VA won't be a
problem.  But like I said earlier, we've got more pressing problems to
worry about. :)
