Status report

I've finished my research for upgrading Vodka's kernel.  I've decided
after talking to VA's tech support and the software RAID group that we
should wait until 2.2.11 is released (a week or two) and VA and the
software RAID group approve their patches for it.  Neither group suggested
we run 2.2.10, though a few members of the RAID group felt reasonably
comfortable with 2.2.11pre4.  VA was pretty firm in suggesting staying
with 2.2.7 and stated that the eepro100 NIC patch would not work on 2.2.8
or higher without mods.  Half of VA's patches deal with improving memory
management or the Symbios SCSI card driver and seem worthwhile.  The
other half are for fixing compatibility issues with the DAC960 RAID
controller which is installed in Yukon but not Vodka.
 
I've also seemed to have lost admin priv's for MySQL after the upgrade.
There's some additional work that I need to do for the LBF DB so that I
can start web page development.  Jason, if you could fix that you'd make
me oh so happy. :)

I still need fixed:

1)  Articles aren't listed 

2)  The advanced search form is still broken.  This includes merging
functions_adv.php3 with functions.php3, header_adv.php3 with header.php3
and categories_modperl*.php3 with categories.php3.  Also I've added a
feature to limit documents by type (internal, mirrored, either)

3)  The article submission forms so I can add the RHLUFAQ into our DB and
have some content to search against.

#1 is the most important, with #2 very close second for me to port
Search.pm to the new URL interface.  #3 isn't critical now, but will be
necessary before I can do any htdig tuning.  I'll work on the LBF until
this is done (assuming I get the admin rights :)

Saturday, I should have all the web servers compiled and running on Yukon.
I'll probably leave admin.linuxkb.org on Vokda until it becomes an issue,
because compiling SSL is such a pain in the you know what.  dev, tst, www
will be ready by the end of the day awaiting the CVS tree move from Vodka.
(Daniel, if you have any ?'s for me regardig the web servers and CVS, I
should be online most of the day Saturday and perhaps Sunday.)
