One thing you should know is that this authentification method cannot be used
to protect CGI's in a /cgi-bin directory, only pages/scripts under the
directory with the .htaccess file.  And .htaccess files don't work at all in
the /cgi-bin directory.  Using basic authentification, we will need to either
use all php/mod-perl under the document root, or use php/mod-perl to send
an authentification sequence to the cgi.
