a must for BIND i would say, security is everything ;)

MySQL I would also recommend, I'm not sure what version you are running
now, but the list of changes/fixes in the latest is fairly big.

skip the full OS update, but kernel may not be to big to handle, the
2.2.14 is supposed to be really good. and the many IP changes and
process performance upgrades in the newer branch may prove to be
benifitial.

though you may want to hold off on the kernel if your paranoid about
what may happen.
