Apparently you have an existing main module checked out.  I recently announced
some major changes that require you to:

-backup any changed files
-"cvs release -d main" OR "rm -rf main"
-"cvs co main"
-restore any changed files

To get rid of some stale directories that were removed.  Doing this should
solve your problems.
