Looks like some of the html code for the sidebar needs to be a bit more
robust.  For a demo, go to the advanced search page, and do a search on
"apache", keeping all the default settings.  You'll notice that the word
"Links" seems to now float over an inch above the sidebar.

I've verified that my mod_perl code is returning the exact same html as
/search/simple.php3
