OK...

So what do we have here....  MySQL as the backend, lots of database
guys, but no current action plan?

It sounds like they have a database schema already designed.  Could I
get a copy of it to compare it to mine?

In any case, the best way to do this is probably to get a good design
down, then start black boxing parts out to people....  I'll take
something any time we're ready!
