Uh, let's see, Win 3.1 and OS/2... tell me why again you just don't wipe
them both off your disk and install Linux?  (you can always do a ftp
install if you can't get the CDROM to work)

Well you might be able to get TeraTerm Pro & ssh working on Win 3.1.  I
wouldn't know from personal experiance though.  go to yahoo and do a
search on "ssh windows" and you'll find it.  Notepad is a poor replacement
for XEmacs or even vi for that matter though.  Wiping out Windoz and OS/2
seems like the winning solution to me.
