I have only announced this to my QSbetas mailing list (roughly 25
members) but got little interest. I'd like to iron out a few more
problems before announcing to a larger group.

Now, I see your error was after QS was open. Looks like it may be the
same problem as Philippe encountered. Do you have winXP or 98?
