I didn't change the defaults in /etc/mixminiond.conf:
#FileParanoia: yes
#TrustedUser: root

Homedir is /var/spool/minion with permission 700, owner miniond, group
miniond. Its subdirectories are 700 too, and miniond's umask is 077.
/var/spool is owned by user root, group root with permission 755.

It happens every time I run "mixminion unittests".

I'm running today's mixminion-v0-0-5-patches CVS code with Python 2.2.3+
on Linux 2.4.22 (Debian testing/unstable).
