 I've merged bug19180_easy to master.  I'll make new tickets for the
 remaining warnings listed above.

 I do expect that we'll run into at least one surprising warning when
 Jenkins or some unsuspecting users tries to build with some compiler
 version I didn't get to try. We'll fix those as they turn up.
