Comment:

 Triage: this needs more attention before we can call 0.2.2.x stable. Is
 this in the synthetic timeout code, meaning it's resolved since we threw
 that out? Or is it in the unit tests? Or elsewhere? Does it only happen on
 Panther? Why Panther?
