The alias receives incoming mail at torproject.org's mailserver (to
gabe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx), and then sends mail to wherever the alias says (to
gaba@xxxxxxxxxx).
If you want to send mail with a From: line saying gaba@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, you
need to use a mailserver that will let you send those mails.
For example, I run my own mailserver, and I can write whatever I like on
the From: line when I send mails. For example, I could send mail as
gaba@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx if I wanted.
So if you want to send mails using gaba@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx as your From line,
you need to find a mailserver that is willing to send them.
It sounds like you're using riseup as your mailserver? And riseup doesn't
want to send these mails? I'd start by looking there.
