Re: Tor and Thunderbird / Mail.app



That seems to not be true. Right now Tor is not running, safari shows the privoxy error page, and mail.app is still able to send and receive mail from gmail.

If you setup the proxy server in System Preferences, all native-Apple
applications should use the settings.

Send yourself an email and look at the headers for your IP address.
Alternatively, use tcpdump or wireshark to sniff the connection to see
what leaks.

Just remember that unless you are using pop3s or imaps (that is pop3
over ssl or imap over ssl) the exit node can see your username/ password
in the clear.
