You could just as well consider the anonymous and non-anonymous victims
being in that boat. Nobody would believe them - until the boat tipped over.

Not every reprehensible behaviour is criminally relevant, and yet you
don't want such people in your community. What to do then? Stay away,
and don't say anything while the community slowly crumbles under the
closet sociopaths with a reputation, the good people being driven
away in disgust?

Indeed, Jake's dementi is consistent with many of the allegations.
