It is possible that it is because we are using user_pref() calls as opposed to pref() calls in our version of prefs.js, and there is some race condition or other failure in a preference observer that is causing some of the prefs to randomly fail to apply: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/3933#comment:1 -- Mike Perry Mad Computer Scientist fscked.org evil labs
