[Toredu-announce] September 2024 tor-edu update

Hello excellent university relay operators,

Since the February update, we've made steady progress, adding 5 new
relay groups to https://toruniversity.eff.org/:

* Université de Namur (Belgium), run by professor Florentin Rochet

* Walton Institute (Ireland), run by John Ronan

* MIT (US), a new group of relays run by professor Nickolai Zeldovich

* RWTH Aachen University (Germany), run by Carsten Otto

* Arizona State University (US), run by William Tolley in Jed Crandall's
research group

We also lost our first university relay since the campaign began: Florian
Tschorsch used to run a relay at TU Berlin, but it alas went down when
he left. He has plans to spin one up at TU Dresden, his new institution,
and we are awaiting news. :)

I've added these folks to this list -- welcome! -- and it brings
our total to 28 institutions.

We have more educational institutions on the roadmap: for example, there
are relays already running at KAIST (Korea), FAU (Germany), Stanford (US),
Portland University (US), Fort Hays State University (US), University
of Washington (US), BYU-Idaho (US), Hong Kong University of Science
and Technology (Hong Kong), National Institute of Informatics (Japan)
-- each of which is somewhere between the "we're trying to reach the
operator" and "we're trying to convince them to join the campaign" stages.

Lastly, in June at the TNC conference we co-organized a "Lessons learned
running Tor exit relays at an NREN" session along with Switch, the Swiss
National Research and Education Network (NREN), where we talked to other
NRENs about how running Tor relays is a good match for their mission
and not as scary as they might have imagined. I've added five Tor allies
from the NREN space to this list too, so they can follow along with our
progress and also because they will be key for helping universities in
their region keep their Tor relays going:
* Jessica Schumacher (Switch, Switzerland)
* Sebas Veeke (SURF, Netherlands)
* Tangui Coulouarn (DEIC, Denmark)
* Kushal Das (Sunet, Sweden)
* Brian Nisbet (HEAnet, Ireland)

Thanks for everything!
--Roger
