Just before the pygame.init() , write:
pygame.mixer.pre_init(22050,-16,1,4096)
just that.
I've tried that, and unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem - I still get crackling music. Someone else suggested that I don't use pygame.init() because it inits everything, and that I should only init what I want, and one thing at a time (ie init display, init mixer). Unfortunately, that hasn't worked either. I reckon I've tried everything. I'm totally new to Python and Pygame and am really stuck here. Could it be an OS problem? I'm using Ubuntu Linux (Feisty Fawn) but others on the
mailing list have said there's a bug in the Windows Pygame that causes sound crackle too. Any other ideas?
Cheers,
Andrew.
