I like Komodo Edit/IDE here, it lets me do remote debugging.
Which I find to be faster for me than just staring at the code.

I'm a huge Emacs + python-mode + rope + yasnippet guy, but if you don't already know Emacs its probably a bit much to jump into. I've never used IDLE.
