[pygame] Pygame Font Contest

I'm glad to announce the first real pygame coding contest. Now is the
time to put down your current endeavors, and spend a night or two
putting together a fun entry for the contest..

The contest is all about rendering fonts in fun and useful ways. The
doors are wide open out there for good ideas. You could do textured
text? gradient text? spinning text? whatever you think would look good
or be useful for others.

Now there's no real prizes for the 'winners' of this contest. But it's a
fun idea to take a break from any other projects you've been busy on and
make something fun for everyone to see.

I'm not sure if we'll even decide an absolute winner. But send in the
amazing entry or two, and we'll certainly put it into the spotlight for
the fame and recognition it deserves.

The contest will be "open" until the end of next Sunday, the 9th. After
that i'll assemble the highlights into a nice viewable archive. There's
a good chance all your useful entries will wind up in the pygame code
repository too.

To get everyone started, i've put together two simple examples you can
use to get started. As an example of a single image, there is
dropshadowed text. There's also an animated example that wiggles text
around. Both these examples come with a little framework that makes it
easy to display your example. Feel free to use as much or as little from
these two examples as you want.

Remember, the theme is rendering fonts, and making neat looking text. If
you want to use your own TTF files or images, please do. Just be sure
the font you use is freely distributable, and submit it in with your code.

Need some cool ideas? well think of neat looking effects done for movie
titles, or crazy stuff you saw in oldtime cracker intros. also any sort
of nifty animated wipes or reveals.

Submit early, and submit often! Put in as many entries as you want, i've
already got some fun ones in mind. Upload all entries to the fontcontest
directory, at
ftp://pygame.org/pub/pygame/contrib/fontcontest

(also look in that directory to see the current two example entries)

you'll probably also want to send mail to the list here, so we know all
about your entry and what it does :]
