stephen, this has been fixed in the latest cvs code. you can grab a 
snapshot of it here. http://pygame.org/ftp/pygame-cvs.tar.gz

btw, pygame doesn't need any of the SDL_net stuff, but it won't hurt 
that you already have it. the source will install pretty easily for you, 
it shouldn't be any more work than using a source rpm.
