Thousand Parsec - http://www.thousandparsec.net/tp/ is my project,
although it doesn't use pygame there is plenty of python code. We are
always looking for new developers.

Take a look here -
http://www.thousandparsec.net/tp/dev/documents/helping.php , for simple
things to start with. I would also recommend joining the mailing lists
and jumping on our IRC channel.
