RE: [school-discuss] District DNA User Manual

I downloaded OpenOffice and then opened my word document. It did a
reasonable good job with the document although there are many errors to
fix. Chapter 2 came out chapter 3. The table of contents is wrong (came
out as chapter 1, no columns etc.). There are additional small errors
all over the place.

I did not see where to output a PDF file from the program.

I have a couple of other problems. File size: It opened a 13.342 MB word
file and saved in its native format a 25.527 MB file. That is all most
twice the size of the word document. It changed all my associations so
that it opens all my office documents by default. Not a good idea since
it clearly blows formatting on complex documents.

No objection at all. Will open office open a Word document with this
level of complexity?

Any objection to a version in OpenOffice or PDF?

As matter of interest, the beta version of OpenOffice 1.1 can generate
PDFs
as standard - get it from (freely!) here:

http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/1.1beta/

I've been using as my primary office suite for several weeks and it's
deadly
stable.

Chris

I have made some corrections to the District DNA User manual and posted
a version in MS Word. I cut out a few things that caught my eye as way
old. And added a couple of up to date screen shots. More coming. You can
download this zip file at http://sourceforge.net/districtdna
