At this site is a follow-up to that recent
review of an OLPC machine:

If I'm reading the blog correctly, there
should soon be a review of an updated
version of the laptop. I suspect that we
may have an ongoing saga here for a while,
so it might be a good idea for interested
parties to keep rechecking the site.
Personally, I've been a fairly regular
reader of Ed Felten's blog for some time
now; I think that he maintains a refreshingly
rigorous view of the effects of technology,
as opposed to the fuzzy wishful thinking
of some other observers. . . .
