Re: [school-discuss] FOSS Professional development courses for teachers

exactly---   a great name goes a long way in getting a product established... it may be a piece of junk but it is that name that attracts people..

Funk v1 is very cool too...   I dare ask what is the feature set?   :)

Do you have any way we can log in and check out Groove...  as far as I can see by its feature set it is nothing special...  just a cool name...  but you never know till you jump in and give it a try...   net connections are too slow here in Cambodia for me to explore too much...  wish someone would do a comparison chart of various school collaboration tools available.

Would it make you feel better to know that I'm working on Funk version 1.0? (which I'm not but I could be)

Roll-up, roll-up, roll-up. The only thing groovier than Groove(R) is Funk (TM)! Just be careful with that spell-checker young lady...

Unfortunately I have a feeling that the good feeling will last about as long as the word and the school will be bullionwise down the toilet (not good for me as that's where both my kids will go). The rollout does not strike me as well planned move; particularly with the rhetoric like "we're only the 3rd school in Australia to get these devices." I think this is a case of throw themselves into technology (any will do, but better be Microsoft to make sure) and hope for the best. If it were an OpenSouce project that would be a bit different because there would be ethical folk in the newsgroups saying "um - are you sure about this?" instead of "insert card and enter PIN; we'll work out the details later."
