This is the third article regarding optimizing Linux for the desktop.

In this one we discuss disabling non-essential services so that desktop Linux can boot faster and have more resources for desktop use.

If you're interesting in increasing performance, this is a good article to consider. 

Also, we discuss a Boot-Up Manager for Ubuntu and the Services Manager for Fedora Core 3.
