A while back we made an abortive attempt to start a discussion
group for a "Kid's UI". We had members from a few HCI groups,
from some window manager projects, and from a bunch of other
places. After an initial flurry of posts, it died down and has
been moribund since. If you'd like to look through the
discussions, go to <http://www.seul.org/archives/kidsui/>. If
you'd like to try restarting them, join the mailing list
(instructions are on the page above) and have at it!

I suspect there will never be such a thing as a "standardized"
student tracking system because different teachers and
administrations will have different ideas on what information to
track and how to do so. Having said that, there are various
efforts underway to do such things. Les Richardson, can you
repost the URL for your preliminary software database, with the
filter for administrative software?

The only thing along these lines that I know of is QGEO
<http://qgeo.sourceforge.net>, which is an interface to National
Geographic CD-ROMs. If you want to take on this task, we'll be
ever so thankful, and SEUL would be quite happy to provide
hosting services for it. Let us know.
