Re: Looking for Derive workalikes

Hi All,

I am also not particuluarly qualified to evaluate Derive (and it's
derivatives :) I just know that I need to install it on all the machines.
I did find a free program on Linux that also had some lesson plans, but
they were designed for use with the German Abitur curriculum and were in
German. I'll see if I can find it again. It came with the SuSE
distribution.

MathCAD, etc are all too expensive.

Gimp is cool, but we need a EDU HowTo. Even an Intro to Graphics. Infact,
I am using a book with my students "Creative HTML Design", by Linda & Bill
Weinmann. I like it because it has a nice mix of technical, graphical and
layout mixed together. They have graphical exersizes, but they are all in
Photoshop or PaintShopPro. We could use some one to make GIMP exersizes.

I'll check out the additional word processors. Thanks for the tips.

Then it will just be the math department. However, I know that an
additional problem will be the Literature Game CDs. This will be
especially problematic in our GradeSchool where edu games are a big focus.
I don't know how we will crack that one.
