National Software Evaluation Project (NSEP) website now available

The National Software Evaluation Project is a collaborative effort by all
Australian States and Territories to bring together reviews of software for
the use of Australian school communities. The NSEP website provides schools
with a customised view into the EdNA Online database which contains more
than 15,000 evaluated items overall.

Resources and reviews can be found by using either a specialised search or
by selecting from the three main categories of information: Choosing
Software, Software Reviews and Software Sites.

The site also provides access to the NSEP forum which enables people to post
information about software, or to ask questions.

Resources and reviews are contributed by States and Territories through the
ongoing EdNA Online metadata harvesting program and by individual selection
by EdNA Online Schools Information Officers. These reviews and resources are
then available through EdNA Online at
<http://www.edna.edu.au/>http://www.edna.edu.au/, and via the
NSEP website at <http://nsep.edna.edu.au/>http://nsep.edna.edu.au/. Schools
can also add a free NSEP
search box to their own website simply by copying and pasting some code. The
code can be located at
<http://www.edna.edu.au/api/nsep.html>http://www.edna.edu.au/api/nsep.html.

The National Software Evaluation Project was funded by the Department of
Education, Science and Training and managed by the Victorian Department of
Education, Employment and Training. The development of the website was
project managed by education.au limited, a ministerial owned company
collaboratively funded by the State, Territory and Commonwealth education
ministries. education.au limited will continue to maintain the site.

"The National Software Evaluation Project is a terrific example of the
ability of the state and territory schools sectors to work together to
provide resources of national usefulness," said Gerry White, CEO of
education.au limited. "The EdNA Online database enables these resources to
be discoverable in a range of ways - from EdNA Online, from the customised
NSEP website, and through schools' own websites if they copy and paste the
NSEP search code into their own sites."
