wiki is available in several flavours.  I have just started experimenting with
the zope wiki module with my students.  Since zope does transactions, I can
theoretically recover from "accidental" erasures.  Within wiki, we can
include html such as links to the relevant mailing list archives.  While I
am still new to the concept, I really like the values that by it's nature it
promotes:

trust, and cooperative construction.
