Les,
 Nobody said we should give up, and yes it is important, otherwise we will not hang around here. "other 90%" means the  stuff has nothing to to with "programming", the stuff you have to deal with  when you go through the processes of putting an IT solution into a real organization of more than 200 users in the real world.
