This is the official ATutor 1.3 release announcement.
ATutor is an Open Source Web-based Learning Content Management System (LCMS) designed with accessibility and adaptability in mind. Administrators can install or update ATutor in minutes. Instructors can quickly assemble, package, and redistribute elearning content, and conduct their courses online. Students learn in an adaptive learning environment.
New Features in this Release:
IMS Standard Content Packaging:
Instructors and students can export content from ATutor in Content Packages that can be viewed offline, or imported into ATutor or another IMS compliant elearning system. Entire courses, course units, or single pages can be packaged for viewing or redistribution. Content from other systems can be imported into ATutor.
The ATutor Course Browser has been updated to include course categories, so courses may now be sorted using custom defined topics, or groupings.
Course Enrollment List Import/Export:
Instructors can import a comma separated list of students for quick registration on an ATutor system and one step enrollment in their courses.
Content Coverage Tracking:
My Tracker, and the Course Tracker now display the accumulation of pages viewed so both instructors and learners can easily keep track of course coverage, including the number of page visits, time spent viewing, and the content left to cover.
Improved Menu Accessibility:
Navigating the main menu has been made easier for assistive technology users by adding a dynamically generated jump link, activated by keyboard, that returns a learner to the most recently accessed location in the menu.
The Alt text and title text included with various menu features has been updated to create additional structure and provide clearer descriptions for those navigating the menus with a screen reader.
A search engine has been added to ATutor to allow learners to search through course content, and quickly gather references for any course topic.
... and lots of other additions and enhancements.
