Scott, the argument isn't correct, just like pointing out to
microsoft.com to prove that Windows is the best.
"OSS" folks brought much confusion (even with the better thought
of making business more comfortable with the whole idea), and
we have had this cup at the conference -- disregarding my
considerations, the person who did the report on "licensing of"
just messed up *everything* and talked about "opensource"
licensing.
Mind you, sane and regarded by me person, just that coming from
FreeBSD project with their usual wording mixup. Of course,
Debian developers (and me ;) present made the issues clear, but
the report was rendered messy (while more correct) as a result.
So please, let's keep the list clean of licensing flamewars, but
keep in mind that people who "invented" OSS term knew that they
wanted to masquerade the word "free" from biz, and advocates of
the term in favor of FS *generally* miss that point.
And please, take me easy and don't rush with URLs -- I've went
the topic to and fro last time while preparing the reports and
debating the form to use with mixed audience. And thus am more
likely to have fresher arguments which don't focus on the very
first surface but dig somewhat further. :)
