TOTALLY off topic Burning Bootable CD's

I was wondering if someone could help me out here. I purchased a SONY
928e CDR last year, and discovered shortly thereafter that it used a
"non-standard" method and format to burn cd's. This means I cannot
download a standard CD-IMAGE and just burn away. I can use the cd
software that it was distributed with, or spend $$$ to get the right
stuff from adaptec. To use the software, I can burn an ISO-9660
compatible disk, and I have the option of making it bootable, but I
cannot figure out what kind of "boot image file" to use for Linux. My
final desire is to make a bootable distribution disk to use for
evaluations of NEW distributions as they are released.

Please respond to me at >> brk@slip.net << as this (I believe) is beyond
the intended focus of the group.

Thanks.
