Is the computer still running ?
If you are on a network, can you do a "ping", "telnet"
or "ssh" ?
Did you try to switch monitor ?
Did you try a <ctrl>+<alt>+<backspace>, (if in "X")
then <ctrl>+<alt>+<delete> to do a clean shutdown ?
Then wait until the machine reboot, does it reboot
properly ?
You can do the previous even if you do not see
anything on the monitor.
Simply check the "hard drive", "power", etc. LED
activity.
You need to describe better your problem, as at this
point, it is not sure if you have a software or
hardware problem, eg. are you using Netscape with Java
when it happen or does it happen anytime ?

It could be simply typo mistake.
But it could also be an overclocked machine, or simply
poorly setup of the cpu voltage.
What could endup in a bad involuntary overclocking.
