IIRC we might have kept this one as defense-in-depth. If so, keeping it
again + mentioning the reasoning in the commit message sounds like a way
to go to me. Otherwise, I think dropping it but making sure our nightly
builds would catch any regressions seems to me a fine plan, too.
Re: commit merge. If we go that way for .mozconfig and pref related things
putting the bug numbers in the commit message (as is already done in part
at least) sounds like a good way of keeping history easier avaiable.
