 there's no backport of the newer version because it FTBFS in sid:

 i wonder if those could be fixed by upgrading the package to latest
 upstream. so i filed a bug against debian for the old version to propose
 to update it:

 i have started work on updating the package in sid to see if that still
 works at least, and will see about doing a backport if it passes testing.
