 The referrer is not actually missing; because there is a ruleset for
 adf.ly.  You can confirm this with Live HTTP Headers.  I think that adf.ly
 expects a precise referrer from its own domain, and is confused when the
 "http" becomes "https".  We can either disable the adf.ly ruleset, or you
 can bug them about this problem (http://adf.ly/contact.php ?), or both.
