 I like the code. I wonder if the additive noise should be applied to the
 right side of the bin, or to the center of the bin. Or if it matters at
 all.

 So for example if binsize is 8. And the binned value is 16. Should the
 additive noise be applied to 16, or to 12? I'm asking because 12 (the
 center) might be a more fair value than 16 (which is the max).
