 FYI: Be careful with this one. There may be good reasons why remote
 resources are blocked from file urls in general, and a naive fix just for
 this pdf case could end up undoing that.

 I remember this being a problem for both us and Mozilla waaaay back in
 early the Torbutton days (but sadly that was 8 years ago, and the
 specifics escape me, unless it was just same origin concerns about remote
 Javascript running in file origin? I think there were more wrinkles than
 that though).
