Comment:

 This is a known issue (#5232), and it is due to the descriptor parsing and
 database transaction code blocking and not being easy to put into a
 different thread. The
 [https://gitweb.torproject.org/user/isis/torspec.git/blob/refs/heads
 /bridgedb-database-improvements_1:/proposals/XXX-bridgedb-database-
 improvements.txt proposed database improvements for BridgeDB] will fix
 this (among other things, like making BridgeDB significantly faster).
