Comment:

 I am also experiencing the "general socks server failure", but it only
 seems to occur for a specific bridge. No other diagnostic information is
 given. Oddly, the system's Tor installation can use the bridge just fine,
 yet the error occurs in a fresh instance of Tor Browser 5.0.7 Stable. I
 have copy/pasted the bridge line from /etc/tor/torrc into the browser's
 torrc file, so it's not a typo. I have added the bridge both using the Tor
 Launcher and manually by editing the torrc file, but the error persists.
