Most, if not all, our current graphs are time plots that have some metric
on the y axis, time on the x axis, and possibly some classification
encoded as colors. We could explore new visualizations that can help
understand our data better. Examples are (1) political world maps with
some metric encoded as color, e.g., relation of bridge users to recurring
users to visualize requirement for circumvention; there are packages in R
(and maybe ggplot2) that can be used to draw world maps. For an example of
a web site visualizing Tor relays in maps, see
http://www.dianacht.de/torstat/karten.html (cached:
http://freehaven.net/~karsten/volatile/dianacht-torstat-
karten-2010-06-11.pdf). Another example of a new visualization of Tor data
is (2) Circos (http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/circos/), "a software package for
visualizing data [...] in a circular layout, making it ideal for
visualizing relationships between objects or positions."
