 version: take your pick according to which release channel of Thunderbird
 you intend to support. the Lightning calendar is updated in lockstep with
 TB releases. the version for the v10 ESR release would be Lightning 1.2.3,
 the one for TB 13 is 1.5.2.

 server: maybe use ownCloud ( http://owncloud.org ), it has a CalDAV
 function and is very easy to set up. internally uses SabreDAV (
 https://code.google.com/p/sabredav/ ).
